G. Scott Grier
Was born in Glasgow in 1956 and has lived in the area most of his life. He studied Architecture at Glasgow School of Art and still practices as an architect within the city.
Scott has had a life long passion for art, in particular, capturing the West Coast of Scotland. A region he has travelled throughout his life by both land and sea. He also has an extensive knowledge of the Scottish Isles that enable him to capture the very essence of the particular views and angles on which he is working on. Furthermore, Scott has diversified his portfolio from his many travels including locations such as Italy and France.
He works mainly in chalk pastels, a medium he finds ideal for reflecting the contrasting moods and colours he encounters. He is intrigued by what he sees and his paintings concentrate on such details as where Atlantic sea meets sand on the shoreline and where the distant clouds touch the island peaks, all while seamlessly incorporating his own interpretation.
To further extend his existing artwork style, Scott has recently introduced a refreshing new approach to some of his paintings. with a sympathetic emphasis on stronger, richer colours and contrasts, as well as encompassing many new visual textures to his land, sea and air techniques.
Scott exhibits in many galleries throughout the UK. His work is in numerous private and public collections.
